Richard Stallman's Talks in Switzerland This Week

posted by Roy Schestowitz on Mar 29, 2024

DR. Stallman was in Switzerland (again). Maybe he still is. We know who else is in the area [1, 2]. It's where he first disclosed that he had gotten cancer (end of September [1, 2]) and celebrated the fortieth anniversary of GNU, which he calls his child.

The typical pages do not have his talks [1, 2] (not yet anyway), but his personal site started mentioning them only a few days ago:

Mar 26th, 2024 in Geneva, Switzerland

Free Software and Freedom in Computing

This talk will be in English (by the host's request).
Everyone is welcome!
Time: March 26th, 17H00
Location: University of Geneva, UniDufour building, room A300.
Rue du Général Dufour 24, 1204 Genève

Upon entering the building, on the right there is a hallway going down to the large auditoriums. Take that path and you will quickly find A300.

Mar 25th, 2024 in Rapperswil, Switzerland

Free Software and Your Freedom

This talk will be in English.
Everyone is welcome!
Time: March 25th, 17H15 (room opens at 5pm)
Location: Aula of OST-Rapperswil
Rapperswil-Jona
Oberseestrasse 10, 8640 Rapperswil

We tried searching YouTube (via Invidious) for his talks, even if just a portion of these. No luck at this time... maybe the Swiss folks respected his wish not to upload to YouTube (and in proprietary formats, which it defaults to).

The 'cancer culture' looking to cancel him (if not give him bad health, even hoping for a suicide) didn't quite stop. We'll revisit some of the things they did next month and in May/June. The same tactics have been used against other people, including Eben Moglen. The responses here are akin to prebunking. We need to put an end to 'cancer culture'; it's trying to kill people and it is even swatting people.
